It’s not that I’ve never seen mountains before. I am from Northern Nevada. Mountains are nothing new to me, but the mountains here in Wyoming are just incredible! The amount of trees and the incredibly dense forest are both almost overwhelming when you see them for the first time.
There is a path. You can see it. But that is all you can see. One step in and you are surrounded by such thick vegetation that you better know what you are doing before you proceed further. I imagine that if I went hiking without someone skilled, I would get lost in a heartbeat.
Again, such an incredible green!
The Bighorn National Forest is amazing. I started calling it the Wall of Trees. There are just trees everywhere. The entire family was amazed by how many covered the mountainsides. It’s a very different feel than the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Carson Range. As a friend of mine pointed out, it’s very “Squatchy” – as in, Bigfoot may just be lurking about!
