It’s that time again. Time to set some monthly goals. February flew by!
I’m really happy with my results from February. I had a goal to lose four pounds, keep away from sugar and fast food, and add in some plant-based days. While I didn’t get as many fully plant-based days as I wanted, I was proud of myself for generally having animal proteins at only one meal a day most days.
I also managed to steer clear of most sugar. I tried to wean myself off the coffee creamer, but my desire to have that jolt of actual decent tasting caffeine every morning won. I thought about just switching to tea, but I drink tea most evenings and didn’t want to have it twice. I may be addicted to coffee. I’m ok with that.
I also completely stayed away from the fast food. It’s surprisingly easy to do when you shop properly for the week, including snacks and quick meal items.
I weighed in on Monday. I had gone down 3.8 pounds for a two month total of 10.2 pounds!
I know that isn’t exactly four pounds for the month, but I think it’s close enough to celebrate.
I didn’t weigh again this morning because I am a bloated mess right now. Ladies, you know what I mean. Certain times just aren’t good for weighing. We need to know our bodies well enough to know that, and I know mine very well!
My reward for February is to buy a new pair of jeans. I should also cash in on my January reward to get a haircut. I never did that. Ugh… Sometimes, it is just so hard to do things for myself. Now I have two great rewards and I’m about to add a third to earn for March.
So… let’s set some goals!
No Fast Food
Let’s just keep that train rolling down the track! I am feeling good not eating all that greasy garbage so I plan to continue bypassing those fast food temptations. A bonus of no fast food is that when I don’t eat it, the family doesn’t eat it. I don’t tell them they can’t. What I eat is never required to be what my family eats. But they (mainly meaning my husband) choose not to eat fast food when I don’t eat it. We are saving so much money!
You’ll notice that I changed from a sugar ban to a low sugar goal for March. That is because I feel the addiction and hold that sweets had on me has left the building. The craving just isn’t there. I now want to allow myself a treat once in a while. For me, a treat every so often is a more realistic lifestyle choice than never having sugar. And when I say treat, I am not talking about a daily habit. I’m thinking like when my mom makes something yummy for Sunday dinner, I will have a bit. I am fully capable of knowing when to stop. I have progressed and I just feel differently about food after two months of healthier choices. If this becomes a flop, well, then I will go back to the all out ban.
The weather is changing and while I don’t think spring is actually going to hit Wyoming anytime soon, I do see warmer temperatures coming our way. Warm enough to put on a coat and get walking. For March, I am setting the goal of 10,000 steps at least three times a week. I need to get moving! Winter has kept me indoors way too much. It’s time to go out and greet the sun.
Lose 4 Pounds
I’m on track with my big year-end goal, so losing four more pounds is totally do-able!
Along with cashing in my other rewards (I will, I really will), I’m going to add a March reward of a new pair of shoes for walking. I don’t buy shoes very often. I have one pair of tennis shoes/sneakers/walking shoes (whatever you call them). I think it will be great to buy a new pair for spring. The walking paths in town are great, and my kids love to get out with me.
What goals and rewards are you setting for yourself? I’d love to hear from you.
