It’s day twenty-seven of the NO SPEND month and we are so close to the end!
Can you feel the savings?
Can you see the change forming in your habits?
Are you proud of yourself for persevering?
I can and I am!
Today’s task is to have some good ol’ family fun – for free.
Having family fun doesn’t have to revolve around spending tons of money at movie theaters and theme parks. You don’t have to take kids on massive vacations or send them to expensive camps for them to be happy. Sure, those things are all nice one in a while, but family fun can be just as easy as taking a walk.
Having family fun for free is something I have become pretty well acquainted with over the years. As a one income family, we don’t have tons of extra money to spend on outings and adventures. Heading to parks, libraries, free town events, nature walks, and having movie nights at home are all pretty common for us.
Just in the past week we’ve taken a family adventure up into the mountains. We found a lake we love, we picnicked by a beautiful creek, we saw a lot of wildlife, we found interesting rock formations and hiked around them for a bit, and we enjoyed each other’s company.
Another outing we had this past week was a park hop. We drove to a few different parks in town. We walked and we played. My daughter loves all kinds of parks. And, if there are swings, my son is pretty happy at a park as well.
Another fun outing in our town is the local splash pad. It’s free, it’s fun, and it is in a great area for both kids and adults. Things like splash pads should be embraced during a no spend month.
Free family fun… What do you do for that? Whatever it is, do it more and enjoy life.
