Today is day twenty-six of the NO SPEND month and it’s all about spending time with the one you love. Today’s task, according to the book, is to create a free date night.
I was thinking about dates and what they generally look like… dinner, a movie, maybe a coffee or dessert afterwards. Dates can be expensive! They can also be incredibly impersonal. Think about it, you are supposed to be connecting with another person but you are sitting in a dark room not talking.
I think the creativity needed to put together a free date is a lot more romantic and provides a lot more quality time to really be with your significant other.
Recently, my husband and I went out for our eighteen wedding anniversary. Dinner was nice, but do you know what my favorite part of the evening was? It was the walk we took around a local park. It was slowly strolling by the creek, listening to the water. It was watching all the people and laughing together.
Creating a free date night can be as simple as that.
And now for a little update on my feelings from yesterday…
You may recall that yesterday was the first day I woke up feeling done with this challenge. It wasn’t that I wanted anything specific, I just felt done. But…
I didn’t cave.
There was no spending.
I’m still going.
In it to win it!
What do I win? I guess it’s the satisfaction of knowing that I don’t have to spend money to be happy.
