Day eleven of the NO SPEND month takes a look at the home office.
The piles of paper.
The pens and the notepads.
The bills and the receipts.
The supplies and the junk drawers.
The stuff that no one really wants to think about because it’s easier to just shove it in a corner somewhere and ignore it until you need it.
I don’t have a home office per se, but I do have drawers with our paperwork and an area where I keep bills until I pay them… and my journals and pens and all that type of stuff. I also have an area with our homeschool supplies.
Today, I’ll be going through those areas.
I will get rid of unnecessary paperwork that has piled up. I will get rid of pens that no longer write well. I will toss journaling items that are of no use to me. And I will go through homeschool supplies to determine what gets tossed and what I need to replace for our next school year.
I’m also going to use this time to start formulating a plan for curriculum purchasing later this summer. Usually by this time of the year I know exactly what I’m getting, but I’m a little behind right now due to a lot of internal debate over subject matter. With one kid starting high school, well, there are a lot of options. But that’s a whole other post.
As for the paperwork, I actually like going through all of these spaces. I tend to do this quite often as a natural part of my life, so it’s not a chore. Rather, it’s an exciting time because organizing the stuff of life is something that peps me up. I don’t know if it is a sense of accomplishment or just that I like clean spaces…
Whatever it is, today is a fun day for me.
