It’s a new month and that means time for some new goals. Are you setting monthly health goals for yourself? I have decided that for the month of June I need to change how I do things. My months are becoming a bit repetitive and I’m getting bored with it.
Yes, I want to lose a few pounds.
Yes, I want to continue to walk.
Yes, I want to stay away from food that doesn’t do my body any good.
Yes, I want to continue providing myself with positive affirmations.
But is there anything beyond that? Is there anything new and exciting that I can do to change things up?
I have no idea.
I’m in a midyear health burnout.
So in order for me to change things up, I have decided to set some goals that aren’t focused on food or exercise. I’m setting some goals that go along with the positive affirmation angle. I’m going to call them Positivity Goals.
My husband says that I look sad a lot. He says I don’t smile enough. I think in disliking my current health status, I am often feeling a little down on myself. I am going to actively think about smiling and make it happen more. Smiling is good for your health. It can do everything from altering your mood to lowering your blood pressure. I am going to smile more.
I think that sometimes we forget to laugh and play. We sit by watching our kids play, not really joining in, because we are the adults. This month, I am going to do less watching and more joining in. I will be silly, tell jokes, go down the slide at the park, and just exercise my right to be a kid again.
I think every mom out there has goals to take naps. It’s easier said than done, but this week we wrapped up our homeschool year and I am determined to carve out at least twenty minutes a day to close my eyes and snooze. I don’t sleep well at night and I know that lack of sleep is affecting every aspect of my health. Taking naps can help improve my mood, help with weight loss, and it can even help with my overall productivity.
I think these Positivity Goals are a good thing. What do you think?
But… What about exercise? What about weight loss?
I am not going to focus on exercise and weight for the month of June. I will just continue to live and go about eating and body movement as I have been. I guess I want to see just how much the Positivity Goals will help. It’s like my own mini science experiment.
