Yesterday, we finished our fifth week of the homeschool year. That means it is officially time for a brain break.
One of the best things I ever started doing in our homeschool was the five weeks on and one week off schedule. It took me a few years to figure out that regular breaks suit my kids well, but once I figured it out… Yeah, I embraced it!
By the end of the fifth week of schooling, both kids start to check out. Their brains turn to mush. They are tired and cranky. They begin to argue and fuss over just about everything. I think that is absolutely normal for children. After all, they are kids!
So we take a break.
We forget about school for a week and just have fun living.
After the week break, we pick right back up where we were at and go for another five weeks. Attitudes have always shown to improve greatly after the break.
If you are a homeschooler, I’m curious how you go about scheduling your time to improve the mood. Leave a comment and let me know.
