We’re heading into February and I’m thinking about my health goals. I have done incredibly well with January. Seriously, I am super proud of myself. I don’t mind saying that. It’s ok to be proud of successfully tackling your goals. If you remember, I am breaking down my health goals for 2018 in monthly increments. This is making it easier for me to take it step by step and focus on the now.
February will be a continuation of my previous goals, with a couple of interesting additions.
No Fast Food
This is something I want to keep going for as long as possible. I feel great not filling my body with the overly processed version of food presented at fast food establishments.
Continue to Cut out Sugar
The most life changing aspect of all of my goals right now is the reduction of sugar. I am amazed at how my body feels since cutting it down. For February, I plan to continue not consuming excess processed sugar. If you recall, I have allowed myself a splash of creamer in my morning coffee. The creamer has sugar because I don’t like the sugar-free version. But… I think I can do better for myself.
For February, I am going to wean myself off the coffee creamer. My plan is to gradually reduce it in my morning cup until I am just not adding it at all. Now, if I decided coffee is just gross without creamer, well, then I have planned to go to tea. I enjoy tea. If tea becomes the answer, I won’t mind at all. For now, though, I’m going to try weaning off the creamer.
In the interest of cutting a little fat and just getting more nutrients in general, I am going to attempt a couple of plant-based days per week. When I first set this goal, I said to myself that I would do three plant-based days a week. I have since changed it to two. The reason for only two days is that I am not becoming a vegetarian, and I have a family that isn’t interested in plant-based days. I need to plan my meals around what I cook for them. Two days a week should make that doable.
I’m really interested to see how I feel with the plant-based days. I’ve never done that before.
Lose 4 Pounds
My weight loss goal for February is four pounds. Totally achievable! I will be walking as often as the weather allows, and just sticking to healthy food choices.
My reward for sticking to February’s goals will be a trip to the clothing store. I need a new pair of jeans and I don’t like to spend money on myself that way. I always have a hard time buying clothes for myself. I’m setting aside my maternal need to always purchase for the kids, and I’m going to purchase for ME. For real. Yes, that is what I’m going to do!
I think February is going to be a great month. What are your health goals looking like?
