Last night, my husband and I ate at the neatest place here in our town. We had never been there before and weren’t sure what to expect, but boy did we love what we got!
I walk by Sanford’s Pub & Grub almost every weekday with the kids. Every time I walk by, I say to myself that I sure would like to go in and see what it is like. The building is just cool looking on the outside, so I always figure that it must be just as cool inside.
I was right!
Sanford’s is loaded up with all sorts of really cool memorabilia. In fact, when we walked in I exclaimed, “Wow, this place is so cool!” and the guy seating us encouraged me to look around more.
He said, “It’s like a small museum with a restaurant.” And yes, it was!
I couldn’t believe all the really cool old stuff that lined the walls and tables… and even the floors! It was everywhere and so much fun to look at. Every time we turned around, we noticed something else. The whole place oozed coolness. And they topped it off with the music – oldies!
The service was incredible. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, we were treated great. Our server was fantastic, but so were all the other employees who walked by and said hello and made sure we were having a great experience.
Sanford’s has a huge menu – big dinners (including ribs that are supposed to be to die for), lots of Cajun stuff, burgers, sandwiches, and salads… there is something for everyone!
The hubby and I were in the mood for burgers.
I got the Flat Iron with Freddies. Translated, that means a patty melt with fried potato skins.
Oh my word.. It was delicious!
Back when I was in college, I used to meet my Grandpa for lunch from time to time. I would always order a patty melt. I guess it’s a bit nostalgic for me or something. Every time I go to a place that serves burgers, I look for a patty melt. And I tend to totally judge a place based on its patty melt. It’s a pass or fail type situation.
Sanford’s passed with flying colors! Their patty melt was INCREDIBLE!
My husband got the Thermostat with garlic parmesan fries. Translated, that is a jalapeño topped burger with pepper jack cheese. He tends to judge all burger places based on the heat – three Pepsis later, they totally passed!
And then there was dessert.
Until last night, I had never experienced a deep fried Oreo. Oh my goodness… I got the deep fried Oreo sundae. Wow! First, let me just say that deep fried Oreos are AMAZING. They taste like hot donuts. No kidding! There were four on the plate, and they were covered with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, and there was a dab of homemade whipped cream.
When my hubby and I go out, we don’t usually get dessert. But last night we had to. We just couldn’t resist!
And as you can see, we ate it all!
I think out of all the local restaurants we’ve tried so far, Sanford’s is my favorite. The food was fabulous, the service was friendly and just plain wonderful, the ambiance was fantastic and fun – it’s definitely a place we will go back to time and time again.
If you are ever in Sheridan, Wyoming, I totally recommend trying it out!
