Summer is about to come to a screeching halt where I live, so that means I need to kick it into gear and do all I can outdoors in August. Sure, there is a brief fall period where it’s not too cold, but the way the seasons go in Wyoming is something that can’t be planned in advance. Basically, that cold snap and giant snowfall can hit at any time.
July was a pretty good month. I was out walking almost every day – it was great! I had the goal of losing five pounds, but I didn’t quite reach it. Rather, I lost 4.2 pounds. I’m happy with that. Four pounds seems to be my magic number. My body seems to do well with that goal. Still, I am setting the goal to five pounds again for August. Why not? I may as well try to one up myself.
Daily walks have been great for me. I have enjoyed getting out and breathing in the fresh air and sunshine. I plan to keep doing that as long as the weather allows.
I am making it a goal to do my arm weights three times a week. Toning my arms is something I am really trying to work on. I set the goal to three times a week in order to not overdue it. I don’t want to end up sore all the time. From what I know of any sort of resistance training, three times a week is a good amount of time spent on it.
I have begun stretching a lot lately and thought I should work that into my goals. The plan is to stretch two times a day – once in the morning and once in the evening. Stretching helps me feel better and it helps my back not hurt so much.
That’s all. My goals are short and sweet for August. We start back to homeschooling on August 20, so I created goals that realistically work into our homeschool day. I think it’s going to be a great month!
Have you set any health goals for August?
